Really cute how your style went from super realistic to smoothed. I think I would work on making your smooth close-ups more detailed in a smooth, kind, of, way. For example, in this image you could denote cracks in the wood of the bridge simply by a shadow and highlight in the crack - simple colors. Does that make sense? I'll shut up now. +10
